The state and county have finally allowed the Academy to reopen as of 05/30/2020…

The state and county have finally allowed the Academy to reopen as of this coming Tuesday, May 26th. In order to ensure proper health and safety of our members we’ve updated our cleaning protocols.

First, a huge Thank You!!! to everyone who was able to keep supporting the academy during these unprecedented times. Everyone is in different financial situations and we know it wasn’t easy for you and it won’t be forgotten.

Here are some changes to take note of:

-Classes will end 15 minutes early to allow time to clean and disinfect between each class
-All classes will start at their normal times
-We will be keeping 6ft of social distancing during class until Phase 2 rules come out which should be in about 2 weeks
-Family members of students are invited to come and train for free so that the member can have someone to practice with physical contact
-Classes will consist of conditioning elements, jiu jitsu specific movements that will translate very well to when we can spar again and also kickboxing and wrestling drills
-Please try to come to the academy already dressed in your uniform if possible so as to minimize locker rooms and bathroom use.
-Please bring your own water bottles or buy drinks from us in order to avoid water fountain use.
-No non members will be allowed in the academy. If a parent feels they must be there to watch their child that is ok.
-All parents watching must wear masks. We will give out free masks
-We won’t be taking any new members or drop ins for a little while.
-All students and staff will be checked and confirm no symptoms of Covid-19. If you or one of your family members is unwell, please refrain from coming to classes.
-Please utilize the hand sanitizers upon entering the academy.
We are very excited to start getting a semblance of normal again and I know many of you are as well. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us by phone or Facebook message

It has been almost 3 weeks now that the academies have been closed due 04/08/2020…

It has been almost 3 weeks now that the academies have been closed due to the corona virus.  Many members have reached out to us and can’t wait to get on the mats to have fun, get in shape and relieve their stress. My impression from the way the infection curve is starting to flatten and the need for this country’s economy to get back to normal, I think the governor will allow us to open back up by mid May.Please follow us on our Facebook pages for updates, as well as daily technique videos we are posting.Stay healthy and enjoy this time to learn new skills at home!

Very exciting news! As we’ve been announcing in classes our 11/30/17…

Very exciting news! As we’ve been announcing in classes our 10 year anniversary party is only 2 weeks away. I am humbled and blessed that south Florida has embraced this academy into their lives and community. It has become a focal point of many peoples lives just like mine.
The party is Sunday December 10th starting at 11am. It will be an outdoor party with a large tent and catered food. We will also have a Dj, soccer field, volley ball court, pool, bounce house and petting zoo.
Every year our holiday party reaches the maximum number of attendees allowed and this year for sure will be no different. So please if you would like to attend let me know right away that way we can hold a spot for you and your family.
We are looking forward to a great party!

First on Dec. 2nd we have a lot of our students competing at the NAGA grappling championships. I am looking forward to coaching them and watching all of them test themselves and their techniques.
Also on Dec. 10th is our 10th year anniversary party. It will be a big event with more details to come very soon. We are deep in the plannning stages.

A large number of our students are in the process of getting 10/24/17…

A large number of our students are in the process of getting ready for the NAGA tournament which is coming to the area in early December. This means that the advanced classes have extra energy going on right now. It’s times like these that bring a smile to my face. Watching all of our students pushing and reaching for new heights and goals!

The No Armed Bandit

Stan Beck shows how when you start by attacking a kimura from side position you can easily switch to attacking his back. In doing so using this technique, you are trapping both of his arms leaving him defenseless to a choke.
